Democratic socialism is simply the extension of democracy into our economy. We believe businesses are better run when they are democratically owned and operated by their workers.

I am a member of the Democratic Socialists of America because for far too long, our country has been controlled by billionaires, corporations, and special interests.

Both political parties are controlled by wealthy and corporate elites who have used their power to line their own pockets instead of representing the working people who keep this country running. Both parties claim to stand with working people, but neither has put working people in control of the decisions that affect our lives.

Our political and economic system is not working. We need a real working-class movement that can organize working people and build independent political power.

DSA seeks to build that movement. We believe government should be answerable to the people, not controlled by those with the most money and influence. We believe working people should have a real voice in the decisions that shape our workplaces, our communities, and our lives.

The United States was founded on the promise of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I believe democratic socialism is about making that promise real for working people.

If you work for a living, you should be able to afford a home, raise a family, receive healthcare, and live with dignity. You should have a voice in your government and a say in the economy you help build.

I am proud to be a member of DSA because working people need a movement of our own.
